Simple Linctus Paediatric is a gentle cough syrup that helps soothe and relieve dry, irritating coughs by coating the throat.

Paediatric Simple Linctus is a gentle cough syrup designed to soothe and relieve dry, irritating coughs in children aged 1–12 years. The active ingredient, citric acid monohydrate, forms a protective coating over the throat soothing irritation caused by coughing. This soothing liquid not only helps to restore comfort that coughing has caused, but reduces the urge to cough further. Helping keeping throats comfortable and soothed.
Active Ingredients
Citric acid monohydrate 31.25mg/5ml
Other Ingredients
Aniseed Flavour, propylene glycol, sodium benzoate, glycerol (E 422), sucrose, purified water.
For children aged 1 – 5 years old:
- Give one 5ml spoonful up to four times a day.
Children aged 6 – 12 years old:
- Give two 5ml spoonfuls up to four times a day.
For oral use only. Use a medicine spoon or syringe for accurate dosage.
Precautions
- Not suitable for children under 1 year old.
- Do not give your child simple linctus paediatric if your child has an allergy to any of the ingredients.
- This medicine contains 4.4g of sucrose per 5ml dose. This should be taken into account by those with children who have diabetes or have been advised to avoid sugars.
Storage
- Store below 25°C.
- Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.
- Once the bottle has been opened use within 3 months.
- Keep out of sight and reach of children.
Common side effects can include:
- Mild stomach discomfort
- Nausea
- Feeling bloated or uncomfortable
Uncommon or rare side effects can include:
- Skin reactions such as rash or itching
- Allergic reactions, including swelling of the lips, face, or throat
