Canestest is an easy-to-use self-test which can help you identify the likely cause of common vaginal symptoms before choosing treatment. This test measures pH levels in order to determine whether symptoms are more likely to be caused by vaginal thrush, or bacterial vaginosis (BV). Results are available within seconds with results which are over 90% accurate.

Helping you make the informed choice as to which treatment to pursue.

Follow this step-by-step guide on how to use Canestest self-testing kits:

  • Wash and dry your hands before taking the sample.
  • Unwrap the Canestest swab (making sure the swab tip does not come into contact with anything before obtaining the sample).
  • Hold the swab by the handle and insert the yellow tip into the vagina.
  • Rotate the swab until sample obtained and remove.
  • Wait 10 seconds and check the swab to see if the colour has stayed the same or changed to either blue or green.
  • Compare to the colour to the pH colour scale provided.
  • Take a photo of your test results to share with a healthcare professional.

Precautions

  • Canestest self-testing kits are suitable for those suffering with symptoms including vaginal soreness, itching, changes in vaginal discharge (such as change in colour, odour, or consistency), or a vaginal odour.
  • Results are shown instantly.
  • This test uses a vaginal swab sample. The box will include a swab to gather a sample and a colour scale for easy result interpretation.
  • While all of our tests are accurate, no test is 100%. They are designed to help you begin your health journey. They should be considered alongside clinical information and discussed with a clinician.
  • If your test gives unclear or invalid results, it is usually due to an insufficient sample volume or an incorrect procedure. If this happens, review the directions and repeat the process using a new test. Do not retry using the initial test.
  • To obtain accurate results do not obtain a sample within a day of your period, or within 12 hours since sexual intercourse.

Storage

  • Store below 25ºC.
  • Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight and away from moisture.
  • Keep out of sight and reach of children.
