The Family Chemist Takes Healthcare to the Crease at Trent Bridge
Some things matter to every community: good health, strong local connections and the shared moments that sport creates.
Last weekend, we brought those together at Trent Bridge as The Family Chemist hosted its very first community health pop-up with Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, marking the start of our new partnership. It was a fantastic day, and the first of many we hope to deliver together.
A great day at Trent Bridge
With sunshine, a strong crowd and the Warwickshire vs Nottinghamshire fixture as the backdrop, the atmosphere could not have been better.
Members and supporters stopped by for free blood pressure checks, complimentary goody bags and friendly conversations about looking after their health in everyday life.
It was healthcare made simple. A quick check with approachable advice and time to talk to our team.
Why blood pressure checks matter
Many people are surprised to learn that high blood pressure often has no obvious symptoms. You can feel completely well while your blood pressure is raised, which is why it is often described as a silent condition.
Left untreated, high blood pressure can increase the risk of serious health issues including:
- Heart disease
- Stroke
- Kidney disease
- Circulation problems
It is not only something to think about later in life. Stress, sleep, diet, menopause, weight, family history, alcohol intake and lifestyle habits can all have an impact at any age, even for people who feel fit and active.
Low blood pressure can also be important to identify, particularly if it causes dizziness, fatigue or fainting.
A simple check takes only a couple of minutes, but it can provide reassurance or highlight something worth discussing further. Either way, knowing your numbers puts you in a stronger position to protect your health.
From reactive to proactive healthcare
Sport teaches the value of preparation, consistency and taking care of your body. The same applies to health.
Throughout the day, we had valuable conversations with supports of all ages about the importance of prevention and early action.
Too often, people only seek help when something feels wrong. Regular checks and understanding key health markers, such as blood pressure, can help identify issues earlier and support better long-term wellbeing.
Exercise is a strong foundation for good health, but it is only one part of the picture.
A partnership to be proud of
We are proud to be partnering with Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, a club with deep roots in the local community, and this event was just the beginning.
We look forward to creating more opportunities to bring accessible, affordable healthcare closer to the people who need it most.
A big thank you to everyone who visited us, rolled up their sleeve and had a chat with the team. You made the day such a success.
