How NHS Repeat Dispensing Works with an Online Pharmacy

Managing repeat prescriptions doesn’t need to be time-consuming. With NHS Repeat Dispensing, you can get your regular medication without needing to contact your GP every time. This service is ideal for patients who take long-term medication and want a more convenient way to stay on top of their prescriptions.

What is NHS Repeat Dispensing?

This service is designed for patients who take regular medication, and wanting to save time contacting their GP. Instead of issuing one prescription at a time, you GP can authorise a batch of prescriptions, typically covering up to 12 months of treatment. Your GP sends these prescriptions electronically to your chosen pharmacy using the NHS Electronic Prescription Service (EPS). Once you nominate The Family Chemist as your pharmacy, we’ll take care of the rest.

How it Works?

1. Nominate Us as Your Pharmacy

Start by choosing us as your pharmacy. Simply fill out our quick and easy Sign-Up form on the website or nominate us through your GP. Once you’ve nominated us, your future prescriptions will automatically be sent to use by your GP through EPS.

2. We Dispense Your Medication

Each time a prescription batch becomes available, our trained pharmacy team will carefully dispense it. We make sure your medication is safe, accurate, and appropriate for your needs. If anything changes with your health or your treatment, our team will contact you or your GP for further guidance before continuing.

3. Your Prescription Arrives Automatically

When your next prescription in the batch is due, we will automatically receive it electronically. This means there is no need for you to request it or follow up with your GP. As soon as we get the prescription, we start dispensing your medication right away.

4. Free Home Delivery

After we’ve dispensed your medication, we’ll deliver it straight to your door, completely free of charge. We pack your order discreetly and ensure deliveries are handled with care to ensure your medication arrives on time and in perfect condition.

5. Staying Informed

We’ll notify you when your last prescription in the batch is about to be dispensed. That way, you’ll know it’s time to contact your GP for a new set of prescriptions. You don’t need to track anything, we’ll keep you updated so you never run out of medication.

With NHS Repeat Dispensing and The Family Chemist, managing your prescriptions becomes easier, safer, and stress-free.
