How Much Will NHS Services Cost?

As we launch our new NHS services, you might be wondering about the costs involved. The good news is that all NHS services are free at the point of access. However, there may be charges when it comes to prescriptions, which is important to consider if you require medication.

NHS Prescription Charges

In England, the standard NHS prescription charge is currently £9.90 per item (as of June 2025). This fee applies regardless of whether you collect your prescription from a high street pharmacy or use our online NHS dispensing service. If you’re prescribed multiple items, the cost can quickly add up; this is where a Prescription Prepayment Certificate might come in handy (more on that below).

It’s worth noting that some people are entitled to free NHS prescriptions, including those under 16, over 60, or those with certain medical conditions. To find out if you’re eligible, you can use the NHS eligibility checker.

Delivery Costs

If you choose to use our online NHS pharmacy service, you’ll benefit from free standard delivery. Your prescribed medication will be securely packaged and delivered discreetly to your doorstep at no extra cost. This service adds convenience and ensures you never miss a dose of important medication.

Prescription Prepayment Certificates (PPCs)

If you regularly pay for prescriptions, a Prescription Prepayment Certificate (PPC) can help you save money. A PPC lets you pay a set price for unlimited NHS prescriptions over a period of time (below prices accurate as of July 2025):

  • 3-month PPC: £32.05
  • 12-month PPC: £114.50

As a general rule, if you need more than one prescription item per month, a PPC could significantly reduce your costs over time.

Additionally, there’s a dedicated HRT Prescription Prepayment Certificate for those prescribed Hormone Replacement Therapy. This HRT PPC costs just £19.80 per year and covers all eligible HRT items.

You can apply for both standard and HRT PPCs directly through the NHS website.

By understanding your options, you can manage your NHS medication costs more effectively while enjoying the benefits of convenient, accessible healthcare.
