Iron plays a key role in the body. It is responsible for producing a protein called haemoglobin, which sits within red blood cells and transports oxygen around the body. Helping to maintain healthy muscle function, supports your immune system, and keeps organs in top form.

Having an iron deficiency is more likely in those who are overweight, pregnant, or who experience heavy menstrual bleeding. Checking your iron levels can indicate whether you may need supplements to help manage symptoms such as tiredness or fatigue, or simply provide that peace of mind when you need it most.

Follow this step-by-step guide on how to use our iron deficiency self-testing kits:

  • Clean your finger with the alcohol swab provided.
  • Gentle prick the side of your fingertip with the lancet.
  • Massage (do not squeeze) downwards on the finger to obtain a sample.
  • Collect the blood sample onto the testing cassette along with one drop of buffer solution.
  • Wait five minutes.
  • Read your results.
  • Take a photo of your test results to share with a healthcare professional.
Precautions
  • Iron deficiency test kits are suitable for those suffering with symptoms such as: persistent fatigue, dizziness, pale skin, cold hands and feet, frequent headaches, brittle nails, and hair loss.
  • You are more likely to be iron deficient if you are underweight, pregnant, or experiencing heavy menstrual bleeding.
  • Results are shown within 5 minutes.
  • This test uses a blood sample. The box includes lancets for safe sample gathering.
  • While all of our tests are accurate, no test is 100%. They are designed to help you begin your health journey. They should be considered alongside clinical information and discussed with a clinician.
  • If your test gives unclear or invalid results, it is usually due to an insufficient sample volume or an incorrect procedure. If this happens, review the directions and repeat the process using a new test. Do not retry using the initial test.

Storage
  • Store below 25ºC.
  • Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight and away from moisture.
