Zomig Rapimelt FAQs

To clarify the information, Zomig Rapimelt is a medication that contains Zolmitriptan, which is a 5-HT1 agonist. This active ingredient works by narrowing the blood vessels around the brain. This, in turn, reverses the widening of blood vessels that are believed to be part of the migraine process.

Zomig Rapimelt is a medication that is supposed to be taken sublingually, which means it is melted under the tongue with your saliva, without the need to take a glass of water. To treat a migraine attack, the recommended dosage of Zomig Rapimelt is 2.5 mg. If your symptoms persist or return within 24 hours, you may take a second dose after 2 hours of the initial dose. However, if you are not able to achieve satisfactory relief with 2.5 mg doses, subsequent attacks can be treated with 5 mg doses of Zomig.

Patients who respond to the medication see significant efficacy within an hour of dosing. Nonetheless, no more than two doses of Zomig Rapimelt should be taken in any 24-hour period.

Although it is possible that you may not experience any side effects at all, the most commonly reported side effects of taking triptans include a warm or hot sensation, tightness, tingling, flushing, drowsiness, and feelings of heaviness or pressure in various areas of the body such as the face, arms, legs, and occasionally the chest. Moreover, it is important to note that the way these side effects affect different people can vary depending on the type of triptan medication.

Consequently, if you experience any unpleasant side effects, switching to a different triptan may be a viable solution. Finally, it is crucial to seek immediate medical attention or go to the nearest accident and emergency department if you experience intense chest pain or sensations.
