Vapour rub is a medicated ointment with camphor, eucalyptus oil, and menthol used to relieve cold symptoms like coughs, sore throats, and nasal congestion by creating a vapour that helps you breathe easier. It helps to calm coughs as well as act as a mild pain relief.
Active Ingredients
Eucalyptus globulus leaf oil, and menthol.
Active Ingredients
Petrolatum, thyme oil (thymus vulgaris), limonene and coumarin.
For cough suppression:
Adults and children over 2 years old:
- Rub a thick layer of rub on your chest and throat.
- Can be covered by a dry, warm cloth if desired.
- Around application areas keep clothing loose, to allow vapours to reach nose and mouth.
- Can be reapplied up to three times a day.
For steam inhalation decongestant:
Adults and children over 12 year old:
- Melt two teaspoons of vapour rub into a bowl with hot water. Do not use boiling water.
- Inhale the vapours for decongestion and cold relief.
For minor muscular aches and pains:
Adults and children over 2 years old:
- Apply vapour rub onto the affected area(s).
- Can be reapplied up to four times a day.
For external or diffusion use only.
Precautions
- Do not apply on children under 2 years of age.
- Inhalation is not recommended for children under 12 years old.
- Avoid direct contact with eyes.
- Do not use around the eyes, mouth, or face.
- Do not apply to broken or infected skin.
Storage
Store below 25°C.
Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.
Keep out of sight and reach of children.
Common side effects can include:
- Warmth, tingling, or burning sensation
- Mild redness
- Skin irritation
Uncommon side effects can include:
- Mild allergic skin reactions (rash, itching)
- Worsening breathing discomfort if used too close to the nostrils, especially in young children
