Sudafed Decongestant nasal spray contains xylometazoline, a topical decongestant which unblocks stuffy noses. By delivering this decongestant directly to the affected area in the nose, it reduces inflammation and swelling where it’s needed most. Opening the nasal passages and allowing air to flow easier. Quick acting and with a lasting effect.
Active Ingredients
Xylometazoline hydrochloride 0.1%
Other Ingredients
Benzalkonium chloride disodium edatate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate, sodium monohydrogen phosphate, sodium chloride, sorbitol solution, purified water.
Adults and children over 12 years old:
- Remove the plastic cap from the nozzle.
- On first use, press the plunger downwards until a spray is delivered (this is to test).
- Hold the bottle upright and place the nozzle into one nostril.
- Press the plunger and take a breath through your nose at the same time.
- Repeat this into the other nostril.
- Spray one dose into each nostril 2-3 times a day as required.
- Wipe the nozzle clean after each use and replace the plastic cap.
Do not use more than three sprays in 24hrs. Do not use for more than 7 continuous days.
Precautions
- Not suitable for children under the age of 12 years old.
- Do not use if you are allergic to xylometazoline or any of the other ingredients.
- Do not use if you suffer from high blood pressure, diabetes, or an over-active thyroid.
- Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeed.
- Do not use if you have recently undergone a neurosurgery.
Storage
Store below 25°C.
Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.
Keep out of sight and reach of children.
Common side effects can include:
- Burning sensation in the nose
- Soreness or stinging inside the nostrils
- Dryness of the nasal lining
Uncommon side effects can include:
- Nosebleeds or occasional spotting of blood from the nose.
- Headaches and mild headaches are sometimes noted after use.
- Nausea is a rare feeling of queasiness.
