An antihistamine tablet that helps relieve symptoms caused by allergies and hay fever. It is commonly used to ease sneezing, watery or itchy eyes, a runny nose, skin irritations, and other allergic reactions. Piriton Allergy Tablets work by blocking histamine attaching to receptors, helping to reduce itching, swelling, redness and irritation caused by allergy triggers.
Active Ingredient
Chlorphenamine maleate 4mg
Other Ingredients
Lactose monohydrate, maize starch, pre-gelatinised maize starch, magnesium stearate, yellow iron oxide (E172).
Children 6 – 12 years old:
- Take half of one tablet with water every 4 – 6 hours as needed.
Do not take more than six doses (three tablets) in a 24hr period.
Adults and children over 12 years old:
- Take one tablet with water every 4 – 6 hours as needed.
Do not take more than six tablets in a 24hr period.
For oral use only.
Precautions
- Not suitable for children under 6 years old.
- Not suitable if you are allergic to antihistamines or any ingredient in the tablet.
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use if pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have glaucoma, prostate enlargement, heart or liver issues.
- Do not exceed the recommended dose.
- Medication may cause drowsiness. Do not operate machinery without knowing how you react.
Storage
Store below 25°C.
Store in a cool, dry place and keep away from direct heat and sunlight.
Keep out of sight and reach of children.
Common side effects may include:
- Drowsiness or feeling sleepy
- Dizziness
- Dry mouth, nose, or throat
- Headache
- Mild stomach upset
Uncommon side effects may include:
- Blurred vision
- Difficulty passing urine
- Confusion or agitation, especially in older people
- Skin rash or itching
- Fast or irregular heartbeat
