Piriteze Children’s Hayfever and Allergy Syrup is designed to relieve a wide range of allergy symptoms, including hay fever, pet and dust allergies. It helps ease sneezing, a runny or itchy nose, watery eyes and itchy skin rashes such as hives.
It contains cetirizine hydrochloride, an antihistamine that works by blocking histamine, the chemical released during an allergic reaction, helping to reduce symptoms and calm irritation. Pititeze is sugar free and banana flavoured, it is easy to take and ideal for those who prefer a liquid instead of tablets.
Active ingredient
Each 5ml dose contains Cetirizine Hydrochloride 5mg.
Other ingredients
Glycerol, Propylene Glycol, Sorbitol (E 420), Methyl Parahydroxybenzoate (E 218), Propyl Parahydroxybenzoate(E216),Sodium Acetate, Acetic Acid, Saccharin Sodium, Banana Flavour and Purified Water.
Adults aged 12 years and over:
- Two 5ml spoonfuls once daily.
Children aged between 6 and 12 years:
- Give one 5ml spoonful twice daily-morning and evening.
Children aged between 2 and 6 years:
- Give half a spoonful (2.5ml) twice daily-morning and evening.
For people with moderate kidney problems:
- Take one 5ml spoonful once daily.
Precautions
- This medication is not recommended for children under 2 years old.
- May cause drowsiness, if affected do not drive or operate machinery.
- Avoid alcoholic drinks.
- If you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicine.
- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, consult your doctor.
- take special care if you are epileptic or at risk of convulsions (fits)
Storage
- Keep it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
- Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use.
- Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the packaging.
Common side effects can include:
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Dry mouth
- Drowsiness
- Tiredness
- Restlessness
- Sore Throat
- Abdominal Pain
- Diarrhoea
- Nausea
- Runny Nose
Uncommon side effects can include:
- Agitation
- Pins and needles sensation
- Itching, rash or hives
- Weakness
- Malaise
