Ovex Family Pack Tablets (1 & 4)

Ovex Tablets are the first line treatment for threadworm infections in the gut and bowel. They contain the active ingredient mebendazole which works by blocking the worms’ ability to absorb the sugars and nutrients they need to survive, causing them to lose energy and die. Once the worms have died, the body naturally expels them in the stool over the next few days.

Active Ingredient

Mebendazole 100mg

Other Ingredients

Microcrystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycollate, talc, maize starch, sodium saccharin, magnesium stearate, cottonseed oil – hydrogenated, orange flavour, colloidal anhydrous silica, sodium laurilsulfate, orange yellow (E110).

For adults and children 2 years old and over:

• Take one tablet as a single dose. The tablet can be chewed, crushed or swallowed whole depending on preference or ease of use.
• Repeat dose: A second dose after ~2 weeks is recommended to avoid re-infection.
• Family treatment: It’s advised that all members of the household take Ovex at the same time to help prevent re-infection, alongside good hygiene measures.

Precautions

• Not suitable for children under 2 years old.  
• Do not use if you are allergic to mebendazole or any other ingredients.
• Not recommended in pregnancy. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or have other medical conditions.
• Keep out of reach of children and always follow the dosage instructions on the packaging.
• This treatment kills adult worms but does not eliminate eggs. Good hygiene (handwashing, keeping nails short, washing bedding and clothing) is essential to prevent reinfection.
• If symptoms persist or worsen after treatment, seek medical advice.

Storage

Store below 25°C.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture.

Keep out of sight and reach of children.

Common side effects can include:

• Stomach pain or discomfort
• Diarrhoea
• Nausea
• Wind

Uncommon side effects can include:

• Headache
• Dizziness
• Skin itching
• Skin rash
