Otrivine Blocked Nose Nasal Spray 0.1% provides fast and effective relief from nasal congestion caused by colds, hay fever, sinusitis, and allergic rhinitis. The easy-to-use spray delivers a precise dose directly into the nasal passages, helping you breathe more comfortably. Formulated with xylometazoline hydrochloride, it works by reducing swelling in the nasal blood vessels and clearing excess mucus. This helps to quickly open up blocked airways, with noticeable relief starting in as little as 2 minutes and lasting for up to 10 hours. Ideal for when you need quick, long-lasting relief from a blocked nose.
Active Ingredient
Xylometazoline Hydrochloride (0.1% w/v).
Other Ingredients
Benzalkonium Chloride, Sodium Phosphate, Disodium Edetate, Sodium Acid Phosphate, Sodium Chloride, Sorbitol, Hypromellose and Purified Water.
For adults and children over 12 years:
- Before using for the first time, prime the pump by actuating 4 times. Once primed, the pump will normally remain charged through out regular daily treatment periods.
- If the spray is not ejected during the full actuation stroke, or if the product has not been used for longer than 7 days, the pump will need to be reprimed with 4 actuations. Be very careful not to spray in the eyes or mouth.
- Hold the bottle upright with thumb under base and nozzle between two fingers.
- Lean forward slightly and insert the nozzle into a nostril .
- Depress pump and sniff at the same time.
- 1 spray in each nostril up to 3 times daily. Do not exceed 3 applications daily in to each nostril.
- Repeat for the other nostril.
- Clean and dry the nozzle before replacing back the cap right after use.
Precautions
- Not suitable for children under 12 years.
- Do not use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
- Do not use if you have had recent brain surgery or have narrow-angle glaucoma.
- Contact a doctor before use if you have an overactive thyroid, diabetes, heart or circulation problems, high blood pressure, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are taking tri- or tetracyclic antidepressants.
- Do not use if you have had recent neurosurgery, have narrow-angle glaucoma, have very dry or inflamed nasal passages, have an enlarged prostate, have an adrenal gland tumour (phaeochromocytoma), or are taking MAOIs or have stopped them within the last 14 days.
Storage
- Store below 25°C.
- Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.
- Keep out of sight and reach of children.
Common side effects may include:
- Headache
- Nasal dryness
- Nasal discomfort
- Nausea
- Local irritation after using the spray
