Irregular menstrual cycle? Hot flushes or mood changes?
These tests detect the presence of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), which is responsible for the growth of ovarian follicles. These follicles produce oestrogen and progesterone. During menopause, the number of follicles decreases, leading to lower oestrogen levels. In response, the brain released more FSH to compensate for this drop. FSH, therefore, remains constantly high, a key indicator of menopause.
