Jakemans Throat and Chest sticks are popular mentholated sweets known for their soothing vapours from ingredients like menthol, aniseed oil, and eucalyptus oil, which help ease coughs, sore throats, and congestion. Sold in convenient sticks containing 10 small sweets, free from artificial colours/flavours, and suitable for vegetarians.  

Ingredients (Menthol Flavour)

Menthol 5mg, anise oil, caramel colour, eucalyptus oil, glucose syrup, natural flavour, sugar, water.

 

Ingredients (Honey and Lemon Flavour)

Sugar, glucose syrup, honey (2.5%), malic acid, menthol crystals, lemon oil, flavourings & colour E102.

Adults and children over the age of 6 years old: 

  • Suck one lozenge at a time. 
  • Let lozenge slowly dissolve it in your mouth; do not chew or swallow whole. 
  • Allow it to dissolve completely (usually a few minutes). 
  • Repeat as needed, every two to three hours.  

Do not exceed 10 lozenges in a 24hr period. 

Precautions
  • Not suitable for children below 6 years old.
  • Lozenges should not be swallowed whole, should be sucked to dissolve slowly.
  • For oral use only.

 

Storage

Store below 25°C.

Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.

Keep out of sight and reach of children.

Common side effects can include: 
  • Mild gastrointestinal discomfort if used in large amounts (e.g., excess sugar intake) 
  • Mild laxative effects with overuse of sugar alcohols in some formulations 

 

Uncommon side effects can include: 
  • Allergic reaction (Skin rash, hives, itchy, peeling, blistered, or swollen skin, swelling of the mouth, lips, tongue, throat, or face)
  • Difficulty speaking or swallowing 
  • Hoarse voice 

If you have chest or throat tightness or develop wheezing or breathing difficulties, stop use and seek medical advice.
