Daktacort Hydrocortisone Cream (15g)

Daktacort Hydrocortisone Cream is used to treat inflamed fungal skin infections such as sweat rash and athlete’s foot. It helps relieve symptoms while targeting the underlying cause of the infection.

Sweat rash (candida intertrigo, or ‘thrush’ of the skin folds) is a sore, itchy red rash found in areas where the skin rubs together e.g. below or between the breasts, underarms, tops of legs or the groin or other skin areas. Athlete’s Foot is a fungal skin infection causing soreness, itching and flaking between the toes or on the soles or sides of the feet.

It contains hydrocortisone, a mild topical steroid that reduces swelling, inflammation and itching, helping to soothe irritated skin. It also contains miconazole nitrate, an antifungal ingredient that works by destroying the fungus responsible for the infection and some of the associated bacteria which may also be present.

Active Ingredients

Miconazole nitrate 20 mg and Hydrocortisone acetate equivalent to 10 mg of hydrocortisone.

Other Ingredients

Macrogol 6-32 Stearate, Glycol Stearate, Oleoyl Macrogolglycerides, Liquid Paraffin, Butylhydroxyanisole, Benzoic Acid, Disodium Edetate, Sodium Sydroxide and Purified Water.

Adults and children aged 10 years and over:

• Wash the infected area and dry it well. As many skin conditions are contagious, you should keep a towel and flannel for your own use and not share it so that you do not infect anyone else.
• Put a small amount of the cream on the affected area twice daily.
• Rub it in gently until the cream has disappeared.

Additional instructions: 

• Do not use for more than 7 days.
• If symptoms persist talk to your doctor.

Precautions:

• Do not use on children under 10 years unless directed to by your doctor.
• Do not use if allergic to hydrocortisone, miconazole, or any other ingredients listed in the Patient Information Leaflet. 
• Avoid use on the face, eyes, broken skin, mucous membranes, large body areas, or under dressings. 
• Seek medical advice before use if pregnant or breastfeeding. 
• Stop use and consult a healthcare professional if irritation worsens or severe reactions occur. 
• Do not use if you have any other skin problems such as cold sores, acne, herpes, chicken pox, or shingles.

Storage

• Keep out of sight and reach of children. 
• Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. 
• Store above 8°C. 

Uncommon/rare side effects can include: 

• Skin irritation
• Burning sensation
• Itchy skin
• Hives
• Irritability in children
