Chlorphenamine is a proven, first-generation antihistamine that effectively treats symptoms of allergic reactions such as hay fever, pet allergies, dust mite allergies, and hives. It works by blocking histamine receptors in the body, relieving symptoms like sneezing, itchy and watery eyes, runny nose, and skin rashes. Unlike newer antihistamines, chlorphenamine may cause drowsiness, making it also useful for those who need help sleeping due to their allergies.

Active Ingredients

Chlorphenamine maleate 4mg

Other Ingredients

Lactose, maize starch, magnesium stearate, pregelatinised starch, quinoline yellow lake (E104) and stearic acid.

Adults and children ages 12 years old and older:

• Take one tablet every four to six hours.

For oral use only. Do not take more than 6 tablets in a 24hr period.

Precautions

• Not suitable for children under 12 years old. 
• Do not take if you are allergic to chlorphenamine or any other ingredients.
• Do not take if you have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor drug (MAOI) for depression within the last fourteen days.
• If you suffer from epilepsy, raised intra-ocular pressure, high blood pressure, heart disease, liver disease, bronchitis, asthma, or an over active thyroid, consult with a doctor before taking this medication.
• Do not take with any other oral antihistamine medication.
• Not suitable for use in pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
• Do not drink alcohol while taking this medication.
• This medication can cause drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, and incoordination. Do not drive or operate machinery without knowing the effect this medication has on you.

Storage

• Store below 25°C.
• Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight and away from moisture.
• Keep out of sight and reach of children.

Common side effects can include:

• Drowsiness
• Dizziness
• Abnormal coordination
• Blurred vision
• Nausea
• Headache
• Dry mouth

Uncommon and rare side effects can include:

• Irregular heartbeat
• Lowering in blood pressure
• Double vision
• Depression, irritability, and confusion
• Difficultly in sleeping, nightmares
