Canesten Oral Capsules 150mg (Single Dose Capsule)

Canesten Oral Capsule is an antifungal medicine in a single oral dose designed to treat vaginal thrush, a common yeast infection caused by Candida yeast. It can also be used to treat thrush infections either as a lone treatment or alongside topical products for internal infection relief. The active ingredient in the capsule is fluconazole, a potent antifungal agent that works by inhibiting the growth of the yeast cells responsible for thrush, interfering with their cell membrane synthesis, helping to clear the infection from inside the body with just one dose. 

Active Ingredients

Fluconazole 150mg

Other Ingredients

Colloidal silicon dioxide, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, maize starch, sodium lauryl sulphate, brilliant blue FCF (E133), titanium dioxide (E171), gelatine.

Adults and children aged between 16 – 60 years old:

• Take the single dose capsule whole with a glass of water. May be taken with or without food.

For oral use only.

Precautions

• Not suitable for children under 16 years old, or adults over 60 years old. 
• Do not use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, breastfeeding, or outside the recommended age range without consulting a healthcare professional, as this formulation is not suitable in pregnancy.  
• Thrush must be diagnosed previously by a healthcare professional before treatment can be provided.
• You may be refused treatment if you have had more than two infections in the last six months.
• Treatment may be used for thrush in men only if thrush has been caught from a partner.
• Avoid use if you are allergic to fluconazole or other ingredients in the medicine.  
• Do not use treatment if you have or have had any disease or illness affecting the liver or kidneys.
• Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before taking this product if you are on other medications or have liver disease, and always seek medical advice if symptoms persist beyond a few days, worsen, or include unusual discharge or pain.   

Storage

Store below 25°C.

Store in a dry, cool place out of direct sunlight.

Keep out of reach and sight of children.

Common side effects may include:

• Headache
• Stomach discomfort/abdominal pain
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Diarrhoea
• Rash

Uncommon side effects may include:

• Decreased appetite
• Dizziness or drowsiness
• Insomnia
• Constipation
• Indigestion
• Wind
• Dry mouth
• Increased sweating
• Itching
