Benylin Dry Cough syrup is designed to relieve dry, irritating coughs caused by colds or respiratory irritation. It helps reduce the urge to cough, especially at night. Containing a cough suppressant that works by acting on the cough centre in the brain to reduce the frequency and intensity of dry, tickly coughs.
Active Ingredients
Dextromethorphan 7.5mg/5ml
Other Ingredients
Liquid glucose, sucrose, ethanol.
Shake the bottle well before use.
Adults and children aged 12 years and over:
- Measure the dose carefully using a measuring spoon or cup.
- Take two 5ml spoonfuls every 4 – 6hrs as needed.
Do not take more than four doses in a 24hr period. For oral use only.
Precautions
- Not suitable for children under 12 years old.
- Do not use if allergic to any of the ingredients.
- Avoid use if pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking other medications without consulting a pharmacist or doctor.
- Seek medical advice if symptoms persist, worsen, or if a chronic cough occurs.
Storage
Store below 25ºC.
Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight away from moisture.
Store with the bottle cap tightly secured.
Keep out of sight and reach of children.
Common side effects can include:
- Feeling drowsy or dizzy
- Dry mouth, nose, or throat
- Headache
- Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, or diarrhoea
- Difficulty concentrating or performing tasks
- Thickened mucus
Uncommon or rare side effects can include:
- Confusion, irritability, or difficulty sleeping
- Ringing in the ears
- Breathing difficulties or chest discomfort
- Low mood, tremors, or low blood pressure
- Difficulty passing urine
