Benylin Chesty Cough is a syrup used to help relieve chesty coughs by loosening mucus and easing congestion in the chest. It contains diphenhydramine, which helps reduce coughing by calming the cough reflex, and levomenthol, which provides a cooling, soothing sensation to help ease irritation in the throat and chest.
Active Ingredients
Diphenhydramine 14mg/5ml, levomenthol 2mg/5ml
Other Ingredients
Liquid glucose, sucrose, ethanol, glycerol, sodium citrate, saccharin sodium, citric acid monohydrate, sodium benzoate (E211), ammonium chloride, caramel T12 (E150), raspberry flavour (benzyl alcohol, propylene glycol (E 1520), ethanol),
carbomer, Ponceau 4R (E124), water.
Shake the bottle well before use.
Adults and children above 12 years old:
- Measure the dose carefully using a measuring spoon or cup.
- Take two 5ml spoonfuls every 4 – 6 hours as needed.
Do not take more than four doses in a 24hr period. For oral use only.
Precautions
- Not suitable for children under 12 year old.
- May cause drowsiness. Do not drive or operate machinery if affected.
- Avoid alcohol while taking this medicine.
- Consult a pharmacist or doctor before use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have breathing problems, or are taking other medicines.
Storage
Store below 25ºC.
Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight away from moisture.
Store with the bottle cap tightly secured.
Keep out of sight and reach of children.
Common side effects may include:
- Drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, or headache.
Rare side effects may include:
- Allergic reactions may occur. If severe side effects develop, stop use and seek medical advice.
