These test kits measure the vaginal pH level, an important indicator of vaginal health. A healthy vagina is slightly acidic (in the range of 3.8-4.4), which helps maintain a balance of beneficial bacteria. When the pH rises above the normal range, it can indicate an imbalance, often linked to bacterial vaginosis (BV). By detecting changes in vaginal pH, these tests help identify when further assessment or treatment for BV may be needed. If results show a below normal range, this could be an indication of a yeast infection such as thrush, which may also be cause for further assessment or intervention.

Follow this step-by-step guide on how to use our vaginal infection self-testing kits:

  • Wash and dry your hands before taking the sample.
  • Hold the swab by the handle and insert the tip approx. 2 inches into the vagina.
  • Rotate the swab for about 10 seconds until sample obtained.
  • Wipe the swab sample at least 5 times into the pH sample well.
  • Results will show instantly. Compare to the colour to the pH colour scale provided.
  • Take a photo of your test results to share with a healthcare professional.
Precautions
  • Bacterial vaginosis (BV) self-testing kits are suitable for those suffering with symptoms including vaginal soreness, itching, or changes in vaginal discharge (such as change in colour, odour, or consistency).
  • Results are shown instantly.
  • This test uses a vaginal swab sample. The box will include a cotton swab to gather a sample and a colour scale for easy result interpretation.
  • While all of our tests are accurate, no test is 100%. They are designed to help you begin your health journey. They should be considered alongside clinical information and discussed with a clinician.
  • If your test gives unclear or invalid results, it is usually due to an insufficient sample volume or an incorrect procedure. If this happens, review the directions and repeat the process using a new test. Do not retry using the initial test.

Storage
  • Store below 25ºC.
