Anusol Plus HC Ointment is a topical treatment for the relief of pain and discomfort caused by internal and external piled (haemorrhoids). This ointment contains hydrocortisone, a mild corticosteroid used to reduce inflammation, itching, and swelling associated with haemorrhoids. The added hydrocortisone helps reduce inflammation and itching by calming the immune response in the affected area. The ointment base also helps soothe and protect irritated skin.
Active Ingredients
Hydrocortisone acetate 0.25g, zinc oxide 10.75g, bismuth subgallate 2.25g, balsam peru 1.875g, bismuth oxide 0.875g, benzyl benzoate 1.25g
Other ingredients
Petroleum jelly white, calcium hydrogen phosphate, lanolin anhydrous, cocoa butter, castor oil, kaolin light, magnesium stearate.
For external piles:
Adults over 18 years old:
- Wash and dry the area.
- Apply directly to the affected area using a gauze dressing.
- Apply in the morning, at night, and after each bowel movement.
For internal piles:
- Wash and dry the area.
- Screw the nozzle provided onto the tube.
- Insert the nozzle into the back passage and squeeze gently.
- Use in the morning, at night, and after each bowel movement.
- Clean the nozzle after each use.
Do not use for more than four doses in a 24hr period. Do not use for more than seven consecutive days.
Precautions
- Not suitable for children under 18 years old.
- Avoid use on broken or infected skin.
- If bleeding is severe or persistent, or symptoms do not improve, seek medical advice.
- Consult a healthcare professional before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Storage
Store below 25°C.
Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.
Keep out of sight and reach of children.
Common side effects can include:
- Mild burning, stinging, redness, or irritation when first applied, which should settle quickly.
- Itching or discomfort at the application site.
- Dry skin, skin lightening, or acne.
Uncommon side effects can include:
- Skin problems such as a rash, worsening inflammation, or signs of infection.
- Allergic reactions, including swelling of the face or throat, hives, or difficulty breathing (rare).
- Vision changes, such as blurred vision, seeing halos around lights, or eye pain (rare).
