Vydura Orodispersible Tablets

Vydura is the branded name for the active ingredient rimegepant, a prescription-only medication that is relatively new in the UK. Used to treat an oncoming migraine, or prevent migraines if you are prone to suffering often. In a small wafer form, Vydura is designed for easy and effective treatment. 

Vydura belongs to a class of medications called Gepants, which work by blocking the receptors in the brain that CGRP (calcitonin gene-related peptide) binds to. CGRP is a protein that plays a key role in causing the pain and other symptoms of a migraine. By blocking CGRP’s action, rimegepant can help reduce the symptoms of a migraine as soon as you feel them coming on. It can also be used as a preventive treatment to help reduce the likelihood of a migraine occurring in the first place.

Vydura comes in an easy-to-take wafer form. Simply place one wafer below the tongue and let it dissolve. Vydura can be taken with or without food and drink for ease, so you don’t have to suffer while you wait for an opportune time to take treatment. Because of its easy-to-use wafer formulation, Vydura is a great option for those suffering from nausea during a migraine attack.

If you’re taking Vydura as a preventative treatment, then you may take one wafer every other day to prevent the onset of migraine symptoms. 

You must not take more than one wafer in a 24hr period. 

Gepant medications are designed to cause fewer side effects than the previous triptans used to treat migraine symptoms. It is rare to experience side effects with this medication, however the most common side effects include nausea, tiredness, dry mouth, and dizziness.

In clinical studies, Vydura has been shown to be an effective treatment for migraine attacks, with 59% of people reporting complete pain relief within two hours of taking, and resulted in 86% of people not needing any additional pain relief for up to 24hrs after their dose.
