Treclin Gel

Treclin is a topical gel used to treat acne. It combines clindamycin, an antibiotic that fights acne-causing bacteria, and tretinoin, a retinoid; a from of Vitamin A which helps to promote skin turnover. These ingredients work together to help reduce acne by targeting its two primary causes: bacterial growth and clogged pores. Clindamycin helps to kill the bacteria on the skin that causes pimples, while tretinoin speeds up the shedding of dead skin, preventing blocked pores that can lead to future breakouts.

Treclin gel is to be applied once daily in the evening before bed, following an entire facial wash with mild soap. Here is a guide on how to use it for effective results:

1. Cleanse your face: Gentle wash your entire face with mild soap, and then pat your face dry with a towel.
2. Apply a thin later: Using your fingertips, apply a pea-sized amount of Treclin gel to the affected areas of your face before gently rubbing over the entire face. Affected areas usually include the forehead, chin, nose, and cheeks. This treatment is for external use only and should avoid the eyes, eyelids, lips, and nostrils.
3. Wash your hands: After applying Treclin gel, wash your hands thoroughly to avoid accidentally spreading the medication to other parts of the body, or accidentally ingesting.
4. Moisturise if needed: If your skin feels dry or irritated, you can apply a gentle scent-free moisturiser afterwards.

When it comes to Treclin treatment, consistency is key. Treclin gel may take several weeks of consistent use to show noticeable improvement in acne.

Using more than a thin later of Treclin in application will not help improve acne quicker, but may cause your skin to become more irritated. Do not over-apply.

In cases of a missed dose, do not double your next dose to make up for forgotten doses. Wait for your next usual dose.

Though many people do not experience any side effects to Treclin gel, possible side effects may include:

• Skin irritation: Including dryness, redness, peeling, or slight burning feeling. This is usually felt when first starting to use Treclin.
• Increased sensitivity to sunlight: One active ingredient, tretinoin, can make your skin more sensitive to the sun, increasing the risk of sunburn. It’s important to apply sunscreen daily and avoid prolonged sun exposure while using Treclin.
• Stinging or tingling: Some people may experience a mild stinging or tingling sensation upon application. This usually eases as your skin gets used to the medication.

If these side effects persist or become bothersome, consult your healthcare provider.

Severe reactions such as allergic reactions, extreme redness, blistering, or swelling are rare but should be reported immediately.

Treclin is suitable for most people who are suffering from uncomfortable acne, however it may not suitable for everyone. Treclin is not suitable for those who:

• Are allergic to clindamycin, tretinoin, or any of the ingredients in Treclin.

• Are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. The use of Treclin or other topical retinoids can cause potential harm to the developing foetus.

• Have a history of eczema or other severe skin conditions that cause your skin to be sensitive or easily irritated. Treclin may make symptoms of these conditions worse.

• Have sunburned or damaged skin. Treclin can further irritate already sensitive skin, so it is best to wait until skin has healed before using Treclin gel.
